The results of a new study published in the scientific journal (Lancet Psychiatry) revealed that people who do not have enough sleep hours are more likely to develop paranoia, depression and anxiety.

Earlier studies had believed that the occurrence of anxiety and depression makes sleep a major obstacle, but this study believes the opposite, that is, the lack of sleep is what raises the risk of developing both depression and anxiety.

To confirm this theory, the researchers targeted 3,890 people and performed some tests. After analyzing the information, the researchers found that those who did not sleep enough hours during the night were causing harm to their mental health.

One of the researchers based on the study commented that I think since ancient times that lack of sleep is responsible for depression and anxiety, but this study benefits the opposite, as sleeping for appropriate hours during the night would positively affect a person's mental health.

The researchers emphasized that the participants who had enough hours of sleep decreased their risk of anxiety and depression by almost 50%, and their nightmares decreased by the same percentage.

The researchers reported that the lack of sleep hours affects the brain in two ways, how to think and how to think about things.

In a related context, a person must have adequate sleep hours according to the age group, as follows:

Adolescents (14-17 years): They should sleep from 8-10 hours.
Young adults (18-25 years): 7-9 hours.
Adults (26-64): 7-9 hours.
Elderly (over 65): 7-8 hours.
